About Me

Amie Bryant (she/her), LCSW, CAS, ACS

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Addictions Specialist, EMDRIA Certified Therapist and Approved Consultant, and Approved Clinical Supervisor, specializing in work with adults and older adolescents.  I’ve been in private practice for over 10 years and also spent 10 years working at the Fort Lewis College Counseling Center as counselor, Training Coordinator for the Graduate Clinical Training Program, and ultimately as Director of the Center. My previous experience includes work in schools, integrated healthcare, wilderness therapy, juvenile detention, emergency services, adult outpatient mental health, substance use treatment and prevention, and as Adjunct Faculty for the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work Four Corners Program.

I am passionate about working with people on improving wellness by supporting them in developing a strong and healthy sense of self.  Using a relational approach to cognitive behavioral therapies, I believe that through the therapeutic relationship, acquiring skills and knowledge, and increasing self-awareness and understanding, we can learn to respond to our difficulties and discomfort, rather than react to them.

I have lived in Durango since 1999 (minus a 3 year stint in the front range), initially moving here to be the Program Director for Colvig Silver Camps, a locally owned/family operated summer camp which fostered my passion for counseling, my leadership skills, and my love of the outdoors.  I later received my Masters in Social Work through the University of Denver, Graduate School of Social Work.

I am the proud bonus mom (aka stepmother) of two young adults and enjoy spending time with my husband, and our “awesome-doodle” (she’s actually an Aussie Doodle).  I nourish myself by being outside on the trails, riding my bicycle, spending time with friends and family, spending time alone, reading, eating chocolate & ice cream, appreciating the fall colors, star-gazing, and sitting around a campfire.  I have also served as board member for the United Way of Southwest Colorado since January 2022 and I am an ambassador for Bigger Than the Trail , an non profit, mental health awareness initiative, whose mission is to “enrich the lives of those struggling with mental health”.

In order to be who we truly are, we have to let go of who we think we are.
