Clinical Supervision Training Program: 400 Level Workshop Series
October 15 - October 29

This series is an an interactive set of workshops that prepares licensed clinicians for competent, ethical, and culturally responsive clinical supervision. The 400 level workshops build on the idea of clinical supervision as stewardship . The series is delivered through live, virtual workshops, that combines didactic learning with case vignettes and group breakout rooms.
The 400 level series is the 3rd tier of the 45 hour Clinical Supervision Training Program and allows for a total of 14 hours of CEU’s through NASW-CO and NBCC. While it’s recommended that workshops are taken in order, it is not required.
401: Navigating Difficulties in Supervision: Action Plans & Accountability
3.5 hours | Thursday, 10/15, 9:00 – 12:45 MT
Objectives
• Understand the ethical importance of monitoring and evaluating supervisee competence.
• Evaluate when a supervisee’s performance concerns warrant the development of a formal action plan
• Apply effective strategies for approaching and engaging supervisees in clear, direct, and constructive conversations about performance concerns.
• Develop, implement, and monitor structured remediation plans, including establishing measurable goals, evaluating progress, and conducting appropriate follow-up.
402: Use of Self in Clinical Supervision: Understanding Presence, Power, and Growth
3.5 hours | Thursday, 10/22, 9:00 – 12:45 MT
Objectives
• Define “use of self” in clinical supervision and explain how self-awareness, self-disclosure, and emotional regulation enhance supervisory effectiveness.
• Demonstrate how the supervisor’s use of self can foster cultural humility, address power imbalances, and support identity-informed supervision.
• Explore “use of self” in its role in fostering relational presence, navigating power dynamics, and promoting professional growth.
• Develop greater awareness of how personal and professional identities, values, and lived experiences shape supervisory relationships and influence power dynamics within supervision and apply strategies for modeling and facilitating reflective supervision that integrates use of self to enhance supervisee development and clinical insight.
403: Evolution of the Supervisory Self: Supervisor Development, Identity, and Style
3.5 hours | Tuesday, 10/27, 1:30 – 5:15 MT
Objectives
• Identify 6 dimensions in developing a supervision style
• Differentiate characteristics, strengths, and challenges associated with novice, developing, and seasoned supervisors
• Analyze stages of development in clinical supervisors and integrate this awareness to refine supervisory identity, effectiveness, and responsiveness over time
• Assess supervisor current stage of supervisory development and identify targeted strategies to support continued growth and effectiveness
404: Supervising for Sustainability
3.5 hours | Thursday, 10/29, 9:00 – 12:45 MT
Objectives
• Summarize the difference between trauma informed care, trauma informed supervision, and supervision as trauma stewardship, and evaluate common trauma exposure responses and early warning signs.
• Critically think about how organizational, cultural, and systemic factors influence clinician sustainability and the supervisory role in responding ethically.
• Integrate knowledge of trauma informed care to support supervisee growth, development, and sustainability.
• Develop supervision strategies that promote trauma-informed care competencies while simultaneously addressing the well-being of both supervisee and supervisor.
