Graduate Student Clinical Training:
A Supplemental Clinical Training Group

Supplement Your Field Placement with Advanced Clinical Training

Field placements are essential, but they often focus heavily on agency protocols and case management and lack the time to unpack complex clinical work and support your evolving therapist identity. This Graduate Clinical Training Group is designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and the complex reality of sitting with a client. Highly recommended by past counseling, social work, and psychology students, this offering focuses on elevating clinical competence through clinical case staffing, video review, psycho-educational seminars, and participant group process.

What You’ll Learn

Under the guidance of Amie, you will move beyond basic skills to explore:

  • Advanced Case Conceptualization: Learning to track patterns, process, and meaning—not just symptoms or stories.
  • The Use of Self: Understanding your way of being and presence as primary importance in your therapeutic stance.
  • Video Review: A safe space to review your session work (with consent from clients) for constructive feedback.
  • Process Group Dynamics: Experiencing group dynamics from the inside out to enhance awareness of Self and foster emotional and interpersonal growth in service to your professional identity development
“Amie’s clinical expertise and humility is inspiring. I appreciated working with her throughout a 30 week graduate clinical training program. Amie’s capacity to deliver helpful content while facilitating rich discussion amongst our cohort truly accelerated my capacity and clinical skill set. I hope to continue to work with her throughout my career as a licensed social worker in the Four Corners region.”

Chris Brown, LSW

“Amie was the director of my graduate school clinical training, and, eight years post-graduate school, I still seek out opportunities to learn from her. Amie has an incredible breadth of knowledge and experience, and is so skilled at synthesizing that knowledge and applying it to specific scenarios or issues. I would highly recommend Amie as a speaker, trainer, or facilitator.”

Frequently Asked Questions: Graduate Clinical Training

How does this differ from my field placement supervision?

Field supervision often focuses on logistics and agency protocols, and many students don’t end up with placements that are as clinical as they’d like. This training group fills that gap by offering in-depth clinical learning and discussion, advanced case conceptualization, and focused clinician development.

Yes. Many agencies recognize the value of supplemental training and cover the cost. We can bill the agency directly.

While not mandatory for graduation, supplemental training accelerates your competence and confidence, helping you feel more prepared for licensure and private practice realities.
